Michael J. DiBella
Mike was born and raised on the north side of Chicago and attended Loyola Academy high school in Wilmette Illinois.
He obtained a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Psychology and Law & Society with a minor in Business Management from Purdue University. Mike graduated with a double-major and a minor and was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity where he held the position of Social Chair. He also played on the Purdue University Men’s Rugby team all four years.
Mike attended DePaul University College of Law where he graduated in the top of his class and received two Cali Awards for outstanding scholastic achievement in Secured Transaction and Legal Profession. This prestigious award is given to the student who earned the highest grade in the selected class. While at DePaul, Mike was also the Vice President of the Justinian Society of Italian Lawyers Student Chapter and received four scholarships for his academic achievement.
Mike is active in many local and national bar associations, including the Young Lawyers’ Section of the Chicago Bar Association and ISBA. Outside of the law, he volunteers his time as a football coach for the Portage Park Cougars, a team within the Chicago Park District.
Before he graduated law school Mike received first-hand litigation experience as a 711 prosecutor in the Felony Trial Division at the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. While working at the State's Attorney's Office he conducted research, interviewed and prepared witnesses, and participated in numerous bench trials, motions, and 402 conferences.
Over the years, Mike has drafted legal memoranda, complaints and discovery requests in numerous personal injury cases. He has been involved in every aspect of a civil case from pre-suit investigation to final jury verdict. Just two months after being sworn into the Illinois State Bar, Mike co-chaired and won a jury trial with his father and founding partner Frank J. Di Bella. Since his first trial Mike has obtained millions of dollars in Settlements, Arbitration Awards and Jury Verdicts for victims in personal injury cases.
His common everyday experience, professional demeanor, and healthy competitive edge provide Mike with an uncanny ability to negotiate settlements with non-attorney insurance adjusters and battle against Illinois’ toughest defense firms.
